September 14th was a Second Sunday and that means Applebee's. On the Second Sunday of each month, we head to Applebee's for late night Applebee's. Here is one of our tables. We would love for you to join us sometime.
The first week of school is almost in the books. It has been a great week. Students connected to our ministry and the Campus Religious Center has had opportunities to be involved in grill outs, Esther's Kitchen and Common ground Planning.
Grill Outs: On Tuesday, we had over 100 individuals attend our grill out as we served hamburgers, hot dogs and baked beans. Here are a few pictures from the grill out:
Esther's Kitchen: On Tuesday, we also went to Esther's Kitchen to serve a meal for the community. Following the meal, they also helped clean up. Here is the group that went and served. Our next service day is September 23rd. Come and be part of the work that God is doing.
Common Ground: We had six students who came out to discuss Common Ground. Common Ground will be our new worship service on Sunday night. Here is a picture of the students who came out to serve:
On Friday, August 15th, we had eight RA's come and crash our back yard for about ninety minutes after a long week of work. SMSU is truly blessed to have some talented and gifted students who are willing to serve in the capacity of RA's. Thank-you for your willingness to serve and know that Lutheran Campus Ministry is here to support you in anyway possible.
On Monday, May 26th, we invited the college students that are still in the Marshall area over for a cook out and a time of fellowship. My wife (Stacey) made a delicious dessert. We had a great time of fellowship and catching up with one another.
On Monday night, May 5th, in lieu of Dinner & Discussion; we invited everyone over to the Greathouse's for an end of the year bonfire. It was a great night of fellowship and a wonderful way to end the school year. Here are a few photos from the evening. We had sixteen students who stopped by for brats, chips, drinks, and ice cream. Oh, and of course s'mores and a little joust fighting.
On Thursday, May 1st, we had the end of the year bbq at the CRC. The night was a "tie-in" to the universities "Finish Strong". Finish Strong was an event that SMSU put on to help the students finish strong during the last week of school. For us, we had four ministries partner with one another. Element 26, Neuman Club, CRU and Shine On. We had a time of fellowship and then had worship songs, Faith 5 and then praying out the seniors. Here are some photos of the event.
On April 4th, we had our First Friday Fellowship. This is a ministry that we are slowly rolling out and hoping that it will become a staple on campus next year. It is a simple night, we open up the CRC doors from 7 - 10 pm and we give the students another opportunity to gather. Students can and will use it in different ways. As I sit here, we have a student playing the piano and singing. We have a few students who are in the conference room fellow-shipping after a bible study. A student is on the piano playing and singing. Movies are on the cart to be played (Frozen and Avatar this time). There are board games on the tables and snacks on the counter.
On Sunday night, January 12th, we met at the CRC and headed over to Applebee's for late night appetizers. On the second Sunday of the month, we gather for a time of fellowship at Applebee's. Last night, we had seven students who joined us for the event. It was a great time of catching up on what happened over break and what they students were looking forward to this semester and what they were apprehensive about. Our next Second Sunday at Applebee's will be Sunday night, February 9th; mark it on your calendar.
On Friday, December 13th, we had an Element 26 Christmas party. We took a few (15) photos. They can be found on Facebook Page here: Pictures. It was a fun and relaxing night with individuals playing Yahtzee, watching a movie, hanging out on the couches and sharing songs around the piano.
On Monday night, we had a group of students who went to Applebee's for a time of fellowship. Most of the college students had headed out for Thanksgiving; so we did not have Dinner and Discussion. Instead, we me at the Campus Religious Center at 9 pm and headed over to Applebee's for Late Night Appetizers.
We had a group of 10 and were able to sit all together. It was a great way to kick off Thanksgiving-week.
