On Monday, May 26th, we invited the college students that are still in the Marshall area over for a cook out and a time of fellowship. My wife (Stacey) made a delicious dessert. We had a great time of fellowship and catching up with one another.
Tonight, we have our LCM Board meeting. In preparation of the meeting, I am going through some paperwork and there was a piece of information that jumped off the page to me. The sheet of paper dealt with the work that the board does; so we as a ministry can accomplish/participate in many aspects of ministry. Here are twelve areas that we try to touch:
- Evangelism and Outreach
- Faith Development
- Hospitality (Community Building)
- Community Service
- Pastoral Care
- Leadership Development
- Justice and Advocacy
- Stewardship and Fundraising
- Vision and Planning
- Ecumenical and Interfaith Cooperation
- Building Relationships with our Partners
We, as a campus ministry, need you !! The you are the following: students, parents, churches, individuals in the community, donors and everyone that has a heart and passion to make a difference. I (Jeff) believe that we have been making great strides the last few years but there are still gaps that need filled and ministry areas where we can improve on.
Can you help ?
Will you help ?
God is at work at SMSU, will you be some extra hands ?
On Friday, May 9th, we held our Baccalaureate service at the Campus Religious Center. We had 15 students from SMSU who participated in the worship service along with their family, friends, and campus ministry friends.
On Monday night, May 5th, in lieu of Dinner & Discussion; we invited everyone over to the Greathouse's for an end of the year bonfire. It was a great night of fellowship and a wonderful way to end the school year. Here are a few photos from the evening. We had sixteen students who stopped by for brats, chips, drinks, and ice cream. Oh, and of course s'mores and a little joust fighting.
On Thursday, May 1st, we had the end of the year bbq at the CRC. The night was a "tie-in" to the universities "Finish Strong". Finish Strong was an event that SMSU put on to help the students finish strong during the last week of school. For us, we had four ministries partner with one another. Element 26, Neuman Club, CRU and Shine On. We had a time of fellowship and then had worship songs, Faith 5 and then praying out the seniors. Here are some photos of the event.
Jeff Greathouse is the LCM Chaplain at SMSU. He has been on campus since Sept. 2012
